Color change (col ch)

When changing color, draw the new color through the two loops on your hook at the last stitch before the “col ch” (fig. 01). Work the first stitch of the new round in the back loop of the stitch only (fig. 02). If you work the rst stitch of the following round in the back loop, too (fig. 03), you will have a harmonic color change (fig. 04).

The hood … (Miss Rubi page 4)
Grab Rubis pattern and go on like this…
We begin with the hood!
We work round 01 until round 22 in hair color and crochet single crochets also in round 22. In the end we make a slip
stitch, break the yarn and fasten off .

The curls (Miss Rubi page 5+6)
Attention! Take the yarn double string (in hair color) and a crochet hook in size 3,5!
Take the loose end of your ball of yarn and the loose end in the inner of the ball. So you get your double string with one ball and tadaaaaa… here we go!
1- row ch 11 incl. t ch
2- row work the rst sc in the 2. ch le of the crochet hook work sc 2 in every back loop only of the chains (20 st)
Please let the two strings at least 5 cm long so you can later make a knot.
We crochet curls until our yarn is depleted! In the end we will have about 36 curls. If you want to have a fully curly head you will need two balls of yarn in hair color and you will have to crochet 10-20 curls more.
The curls …

The curls on the hood …
We place the hat on the hood (fig. 01) and sew it on. Now we spread the curls evenly to the hood and arround the hat (fig. 02) and fix them on the hood how it is described in Rubis pattern.

The hat …
Make a magic ring
1- round sc 6 in the ring (6 st)
2- + 03. rnds. sc (6 st)
3- round [sc 2, inc]2x (8 st)
4- round sc (8 st)
5- round sc 2, dc 4, sc 2 (8 st)
6- round sc (8 st)
7- round sc 2, dc 4, sc 2 (8 st)
8- round sc (8 st)
9- round sc 2, [inc]4x, sc 2 (12 st)
10- round sc (12 st)
11- round [dc inc]4x, sc 8 (16 st)
12- round [dec]6x, sc 4 (10 st)
13- round [sc 4, inc]2x (12 st)
14- round [sc 3, inc]3x (15 st)
15- + 17. rnds. sc (15 st)
16- round sc 10, [dc inc]5x (20 st)
17- round sc 4, [dec.]8x, (12 st)
18- round sc (12 st)
19- round [sc 2, inc]4x (16 st)
20- round sc (16 st)
21- round [sc 3, inc]4x (20 st)
22- round sc (20 st)
23- round [sc 4, inc]4x (24 st)
24- round sc (24 st)
25- round [sc 3, inc]6x (30 st)
26- round [sc 4, inc]6x (36 st)
27- round [sc 5, inc]6x (42 st)
28- round [sc, inc]21x (63 st)
29- round [sc 2, inc]20x, sc 2, sl st 1 (84 st)
Break the yarn and fasten off .
The hat …

The goblin shoes … (make two in dark green)
Make a magic ring
1- round sc 6 in the ring (6 st)
02.-11. rnds. (10) sc (6 st)
12- round [sc 2, inc]2x (8 st)
13- round [sc 3, inc]2x (10 st)
14- round [sc 4, inc]2x (12 st)
15.-26. rnds. (12) sc (12 st)
27.-32. rnds.
The legs … (make two, col ch Miss Rubi page 7)
Round 01 until round 10 in white, then col ch red.
11- + 12. round in red, a er round 12 col ch white
12- + 14. round in white, a er round 14 col ch red
13- + 16. round in red, a er round 16 col ch white
14- + 18. round in white, a er round 18 col ch red
Now we put on El s shoes. We pull them up as far as possible and stuff the legs in the lower third. We sew on the shoes on the legs with a few stitches, turn the shoe tips upwards and fix them with a few stitches, too.

Put the legs together … (Miss Rubi page 8)
1- + 02. round in red, a er round 02 col ch white
2- + 04. round in white, a er round 04 col ch red
3- + 06. round in red, a er round 06 Attention!!! Col ch green (dress color)
Now we work the pattern of Miss Rubi (Miss Rubi, page 8) from round 07 up to the face.
We work the rst round of frills in color „Catania, number 244“, the second round in dress color (Scheepjes, number 806)

The face … (see Rubi with the following changes)
Mouth in color of your choice between round 8-10 (from col ch dress/head) in 6 stitches
Nose in skin color between round 12/13 in 3 stitches [8 to 10 times around], making sure 8-10 threads are visible
Eyes between round 15/16 applied with a distance 7 stitches.
Now we close the head (see Rubi pattern page 11), place the hood and sew it on with a few stitches.

The hands and the arms …
Work the hands in skin color as it is described in Rubis pattern and change to dress color when we come to the arms in round 07.
When crocheting the arms we do a color change all two rounds, beginning with Scheepjes, number 806 alternating with Catania, number 244.
The round of frills we work again in dress color (806).
Now we sew the arms on! Look at the Rubi pattern.
Finally, you can give El rosy cheeks with rouge, eye shadow or textile marker
and a little bit the earpieces.

The ears …
Make a magic ring
1- round sc 6 in the ring (6 st)
2- round sc (6 st)
3- round [sc 1, inc]3x (9 st)
4- round sc (9 st)
5- round [sc 2, inc]3x (12 st)
6- round sc (12 st)
7- round sc 2, hdc 2, dc 4, hdc 2, sc 2 (12 st)
8- round [dec.]2x, hdc 4, [dec.]2x, sl st 1 (9 st)
Now break the yarn and draw the working yarn until the yarn is secured, but keep the yarn long enough so that the ears can be sewn onto the head. You „fold“ the ears after the first two double crochets. So they look like sweet goblin ears (fig. right).

The scarf …
Now you can let your imagination run! So I work my scarf …
hooksize 3,5
Foundation: ch 102 incl. t ch
row 01 skipt the rst two ch, dc, ch 2 (100 st)
row 02 front post dc (100 st)
Break yarn and fasten off.
Finally make some fringes and your Elfi is done!
Congratulations

NOTES –
– Slowly stuff as you go, you want it to be firm but not stretched. You will be working in the round; I like to use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round.
– The legs, body and head will be made as one piece.
– Finished Mini Elf measures approximately 10 inches tall.

Legs – Make 2
Before starting cut a 5-inch strand of your skin tone, and set aside, we will use this to create the nose further in the pattern.
Starting with skin tone
Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC
Round 2: SC INC in each st (12)
Round 3: SC in the first st, SC INC in the next, rep around (18)
Rounds 4-5: SC around (18)
Change to Accent A
Rounds 6-12: SC around (18)

Fasten off on the first leg. Chain 3 and attach to the first leg with a SC. SC in the remaining stitches around the leg. When you reach the chain make a SC across each of the 3 chains. SC in the remaining stitches of the next leg and SC across each of the 3 chains again. You will have crocheted on each side of the chain.
Hair (Boy Version) –

With hair color, create a slip knot and attach with a SC to the back loop of any stitch within your last round of your hat. You will be working in the BLO for this round.
Round 1: *Chain 4, SC into the next st*, *rep around
Fasten off leaving a long strand for sewing onto the head.

Hair (Girl Version) –
With hair color, create a slip knot and attach with a SC to the back loop of any stitch within your last round of your hat. You will be working in the BLO for this round.
Round 1: Chain 25, *2HDC into the 2nd chain from your hook, HDC into the next*. *Continue this pattern down your chain until you reach your hat. Skip the next ST in your hat, SC into the adjacent ST. This completes one curl, continue these steps until you have a total of 18 curls.
Next, SC into the remaining sts until you reach your first curl (this will create the bangs). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly –

– Sew the arms onto the body centered with the head at round 27.
– Next, we will make the bib and straps to the overalls.

1. With Accent A make a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to one of the front loops from round 20. We will be using the center 10 stitches for our bib portion. I used the nose to help me find the center and counted 5 stitches on each side to find my 10 middle stitches.
2. Ch 1 and make 10 HDC across (10)
Ch 1 and turn, we will now work across in rows. (Turning your mini elf upside down or right side up with each row will help in easily reaching your stitches, find what is comfortable for you.)
3. HDC across, ch 1 and turn (10) Complete 2 more rows for a total of 4 rows. At the end of your last row chain 20 for your first strap.
4. Reach across the back (around the neck) to the opposite side (the straps will make an ‘x’ when complete) and slip stitch into a front loop from round 20. Fasten off and weave in your end.
5. Create a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to the other (front) side of your bib. Chain 20 and attach with a slip stitch to the opposite side on the back as before. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

-Next, sew your pom onto the tip of your hat.
-Find the desired placement of your hat and sew into place with a running stitch along the hairline.
– Lastly, with a scrap piece of Accent A fold your hat tip over and sew into the crease to keep desired shape.

Materials:
♦ Yarn meat color, black and white.
♦ Crochet needle size used according to yarn.
♦ Safety eyes.
♦ Synthetic stuffed.
♦ Crayon black or gray eye shadow.
♦ Felt white.
♦ Sewing needle and wool needle.
♦ Scissors.

Abbreviations:
♦ Rnd.: round
♦ mg: magic ring.
♦ sc.: single crochet.
♦ Inc .: increase.
♦ Dec .: decrease.
♦ ch .: chain stitch.
♦ * … *: Repeat the instructions between asterisks all around.
♦ (N): number in parentheses, total stitches of the round.
♦ Ex .: (30) Total 30 stitches.

Head/ body:
We started with yarn meat or colored thread, with 18 ch and continue:
Rnd 1: 1sc in 2ºch. from the crochet, 15sc, 1inc. in the last ch, we turn and knit on the other side of the chain: 16sc, 1inc in the last ch. (36)
Rnd 2: 1inc, 15sc, 3inc, 15sc, 2inc (42)
Rnd 3 – 18: 42sc
Put safety eyes, in the round 13. Can we expect to weave the hair, to adjust well the eye level, but remember to put them before closing the doll!.
We changed to black yarn. For the color change you can apply the method of “perfect color change”.
Rnd 19 – 32: 42sc.
Rnd 33: *6sc, 1inc* (48)
Rnd 34 – 35: 48sc
Rnd 36: *7sc, 1inc* (54)
Rnd 37 – 38: 54sc
Rnd 39: *8sc, 1inc* (60)
Rnd 40 – 41: 60sc
Rnd 42: *9sc, 1inc* (66)
Rnd 43 – 45: 66sc
If you have not laid safety eyes, this is a good time, because in the next round will close the body of the doll. Stuffing first, but not too much to keep the square shape.
We join the two body parts 33sc. If you have no yarn in the corner of the dress, do not worry, continues to knit single crochet to the corner and from there connect the two parts.
Rnd 46: 33sc joining the two parts (closing body).
Rnd 47: 1ch. and turn. We 33sc in back loops, turn and knit 33sc on the other side of the previous lap. This is to dress the wheel. (66)
Rnd 48 – 49: 66sc. Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Hair (x2):
Whit black yarn:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in m.r.
Rnd 2: 6inc (12)
Rnd 3: 12sc
Rnd 4: * 1sc, 1inc* (18)
Rnd 5: 18sc
Rnd 6: * 2sc, 1inc * (24)
Rnd 7: 24sc
Rnd 8: * 3sc, 1inc * (30)
Rnd 9: 30sc
Rnd 10: * 4sc, 1inc * (36)
Rnd 11: 36sc.
Fasten off and cut, leave a long tail for sewing head. Put in the corner, and sew. Then we make braids.

To make braids:
Black yarn roll up on, for example, a DVD case, 12 times. We cut one hand and together about 3 strands, which will bent 6. It is estimated, you can do depending on the thickness of braid you want to get. We put the strands into the bottom corner of each of the hair, helping to crochet, do the braid and tie another piece of black.

Legs (x2):
With black yarn:
Rnd 1: 6cs in a mg
Rnd 2: 6inc (12)
Rnd 3: * 1sc, 1inc * (18)
Rnd 4 – 7: 18sc
Rnd 8: * 1sc, 1dec * (12)Here we started making socks with black and white stripes. We changed to white and let weaving 3 round white and 3 round black.
Rnd 9 – 38: 12sc –> we stuffing the leg as we weave, we stuffing more by foot and less as we go, to stay down and wrist can be granted.
Rnd 39: together the edges of the leg and do 6sc to close.

Arms (x2):
With yarn ecru or meat:
Rnd 1: 6sc in mg
Rnd 2: 6inc (12)
Rnd 3 – 4: 12sc
Rnd 5: * 1dec, 4sc* (10)
Color change to black:
Rnd 6 – 12: 10sc
Rnd 13: 2sc, 5sc in back loops, 3sc (10) –> this is to form the elbow, and the arm is slightly bent.
Rnd 14: 2sc, 5sc free bonds in the above (which we’ve done before looping back), 3sc (10)
Rnd 15 – 24: 10sc –> Let stuffing, more for the part of the hand and less overhead.
Rnd 25: the edges together and knit arm 5sc to close. Finish off and cut, leaving a long tail to sew the body.

Mounting:
♦ Boil the legs in the middle of the steering wheel dress.
♦ Sew the arms on each side of the body, up to the change of color of the face and clothing.
♦ With a wax pencil gray paint around the eyes, dark circles to simulate.
♦ We cut pieces of white felt, based on image, to the collar and two buttons. The sew the body.

Supplies:• Yarn 4/Medium Weight Yarn in…Red, Green, Dark Green, and White•4mm Crochet Hook•Tapestry needle•Scissors•Stuffing•10 inch Wreath•Mesh for Wreath Additional Information:Difficulty: Easy • Before we get

Supplies:
• Yarn 4/Medium Weight Yarn in…
Red, Green, Dark Green, and White
•4mm Crochet Hook
•Tapestry needle
•Scissors
•Stuffing
•10 inch Wreath
•Mesh for Wreath

Additional Information:
Difficulty: Easy

• Before we get started…
You will need a wreath. I bought a foam wreath (10 inch) from Dollar Tree. However, a wire wreath is better suited for the frilly wreath we’ll be doing. There are video tutorials online showing how to put mesh around a wire wreath, but I will show you how I did mine with a foam wreath.
You’ll also need colorful mesh to go around the wreath. I got 2 rolls from Dollar tree as well. The little bells you can also get from Dollar Tree.

• Let’s Get Started!
We will first start by making a shoe, this shoe will lead into the lead. We will then make a second leg and crochet both legs together to form the waist area. After this we will make the curly part of the shoe, the green triangles around the waist, and put the mesh around the wreath. Lastly, we will attach the elf to the wreath!

Elf Shoe:
IN RED
In round 1 we will make a foundation chain. This means we will make a chain, work down one side of the chain, then we turn to the other side of the chain and continue down that side. This will make a round. We are NOT turning the work and crocheting over the stitches we just made! That would be working a row.
Round 1: Ch 22 Pic 1. Dc in the 3rd Ch from the hook. Dc in the next 18 Ch Pic 2. Dc 3 times in the last Ch Pic 3. Now turn the chain to the opposite side, where we haven’t worked any double crochets yet Pic 4. Dc in the next 18 st Pic 5-6 (40)

Sc in the next 11 st (28)
This will create a leg on the shoe. We will also have a hole near the front. Don’t worry, we will just sew it closed later!

Round 10: Sc in the next 16 st Sc in the next st that connects the shoe . Sc in the next 11 st (28)
Round 11-13: *Sc* all around (28)
Stuff the shoe here Now we will sew the front hole of the shoe closed. Take a needle with red yarn and sew through the stitches that align . Grab both tail ends of yarn and pull firmly at the same time to tighten the yarn. Now tie each tail end of yarn into firm knots and bring into the shoe to hide.
Now we make the leg. It’s easy, but we make frequent color changes

Stuff now.
Continue on the next section for the second leg.
Second leg, Round 49: Sc in the next 3 st Take the first leg made and count 12 stitches to the right of the stitch marker

Next we will Sc going through BOTH the first and second leg.
While your hook is still in the working loop of the second leg , also insert your hook into that 12th stitch on the first leg . Now insert hook into the next stitch of the first leg . Yarn over and pull up a loop
Yarn over and pull through both loops at the same time . Pin the piece down as shown , and sew on going from the shoe to the tip piece . Weave in any ends

Waist Frills: (Make 8)
IN GREEN
Row 1: Ch 2. Sc in the next 8 st (8)
Row 10: Ch 1 & turn. *Inc* in the first st, Sc in the next 6 st, *Inc* in the next st (10)
Row 11: Ch 1 & turn. Sc in the next 10 st (10)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:
Take the tail end of yarn left at the very tip of the triangle and sew it through a bell Weave this tail end of yarn back through the triangle to secure. Pin the triangle to the waist, right on Round 60 Sew the triangle on, going through the front loops left from Round 61

Leg Assembly:
IN GREEN
To make the elf look like he’s fallen in the wreath, we need to bend his leg slightly. Here is how we do that!
Insert needle with green yarn into the 5th white stripe on the right leg, and pull needle out a stitch to the left Reinsert needle on the 3rd right stripe, lining up to where you’d previously pulled in and out the needle. Reinsert needle on the 5th white stripe, next to where you previously had sewed. Pull the needle out about 2 stitches to the left . Reinsert needle into the 3rd stripe, next to where you previously had sewed. Pull the needle out about 2 stitches to the left Repeat this process until you’ve sewed the back of the leg. Pull both tail ends of yarn firmly at the same time to tighten the leg. Tie the ends of yarn into firm knots and weave in to hide.

Wreath Assembly:
If you know how to make your own wreath, feel free to do so! However, this was my first wreath ever and I just made do with the supplies I had.
Take a wreath (I am using a foam wreath from Dollar Tree, they also have wire wreaths that are better suited for making frilly wreaths like this. I just didn’t know at the time that a foam wreath is more for flowers). Now take mesh and bunch it up at the very tip and place it on the wreath. Place a pin to secure this mesh, try to make sure the pin goes through all layers of the mesh
Grab a section of the mesh and bring it to close to the previous mesh you pinned, it should make what looks like a loop . Bunch this area up close to the wreath , and place a pin going through all layers of the mesh . Repeat this process all around. I did red mesh first and closer to the center, then repeated the same process with green mesh at the outside of the wreath.

Attaching Elf to Wreath:
We will attach the elf to the wreath by tying him to it. This secures it really well and you won’t see the yarn as long as you use a color that matches your wreath’s mesh.

Do these steps only on the left and right side of the elf. You can also do these steps for the top of the elf if you need to secure it more.
Take a 8″ piece of yarn and place it on a needle Bring this yarn through the wreath as shown Insert the needle through the elf and pull the needle out about 4 stitches to the left . This yarn through now be at the top of the wreath. Grab both tail ends of yarn and pull them very firmly so the elf is close to the wreath . Tie these tail ends of yarn firmly together a few times and cut the excess yarn
Repeat this a total of 2 times on the left and right side of the elf, as well as once at the top of the elf.
