<p><strong>Bottom Mask Trim</strong><br>In mint yarn, hold the head upside down. Insert your hook in the first front loop of round 7 and continue the following round:<br>FLO – 6 slst, (1 sc, 3 hdc in the next stitch, 1 sc, 6 slst) x 2 (28)<br>Cut yarn, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Using the yarn tail, sew a few stitches to secure the curved eye mask detail to the head.</p>



<p><strong>Top Mask Trim</strong><br>In mint yarn, hold the head upside down and insert your hook into the first post-stitch between round 5 &amp; 6 (see image 2):<br>24 slst in the post-stitches between round 5 &amp; 6 (24)<br>Cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends.<br>Insert safety eyes between round 6 &amp; 7, above the stitch you made the 3 hdc in for the bottom mask trim </p>

<p><strong>Mask Tie</strong><br>In mint yarn. Chain 9, slst into 1st stitch to chain to create a loop, chain 9 and slst back into 1st chain again.<br>Cut yarn, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.</p>



<p><strong>Cape</strong><br>In sea green yarn. Chain 15, starting in the 2nd chain from hook:<br>Row 1: 1 sc, (inc) x 12, 1 sc, 1 ch and turn (26)<br>Row 2: 26 sc, 1 ch and turn (26)<br>Row 3: (1 sc, inc) x 13, 1 ch and turn (39)<br>Row 4 – 9: 39 sc, 1 ch and turn (39)<br>Skip the 1 ch for the last row. Cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends.<br>We will now finish the cape by creating a border and the ties. Right side facing up, with the collar section towards you, attach sea green yarn to the first row on the right side (see image 6):<br>1 sc in each row (8), in the last stitch BLO – 1 Sc, 1 ch, 1 sc to create the corner. Continue along the bottom edge by crocheting BLO – 1 sc in each stitch and another BLO – 1 Sc, 1 ch, 1 sc in the last stitch. 1 sc in each row (8).</p>



<p>Chain 19, starting in the 2nd chain from hook, 18 slst. Continue crocheting 1 sc along the starting chain of the collar (14). Chain 19, starting in the 2nd chain from hook, 18 slst and slst into the starting stitch to finish.<br>Cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends.</p>



<p><strong>Assembly</strong><br>• Sew the beak to the head over rounds 7 – 9.<br>• Sew the legs to the feet over rounds 2 – 3.<br>• Leave the upper part of the leg unstuffed and sew to the bottom of the body on either side over rounds 26 – 28, if you’re making Calypso standing up. Cr sew to the front of the body over rounds 22 – 24 (about 1-2 stitches apart), if you’re making Calypso in a sitting position.<br>• Sew the wings to the sides of the body over rounds 17 – 23.<br>• Sew the tail to the tip of the body.<br>• Using black thread, insert your needle at the back of the head and come out 2 stitches away from the eye between round 6 – 7. Wrap the thread around the eye and insert your needle back into the same stitch. Tuck the thread under the safety eye by gently pulling. Tie a knot at the back to secure and weave in ends.<br>• Using salmon yarn or thread, sew a line or two under the eye, 2 stitches long to create a blush cheek.<br>• Sew the mask tie in the middle of the back of the head between round 6 -7.<br>• Tie the cape onto Calypso with a simple knot.<br><strong>Congratulations</strong></p>
