Amigurumi Free Love thy Bear Pattern

Difficulty: Intermediate, US terminology
Materials:
– 2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
– 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > 50g yarn in MAIN COLOUR, less than 50g in LIGHT COLOUR
– Scissors
– Tapestry needle
– Polyester toy stuffing
– Stitch marker
– 12mm plastic safety eyes (optional)
– BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread (optional)

Abbreviations:
– ch = chain
– MR = magic ring
– sc = single crochet
– inc = single crochet increase (2 sc in one stitch)
– dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
– sl st = slip stitch
– blo = working in back loops only
– (..) = repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
– [..] = total number of stitches

Notes:
– Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best, I prefer cotton.
– When changing colour, yarn over the new colour and pull through on the stitch prior.
– For this pattern, the following yarns were used:
MAIN COLOUR = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK “Col. 454 Blush Pink”
LIGHT COLOUR = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK “Col. 453 Ballet Pink”
– Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
– Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of the finished item. My Love thy Bear is approximately 22cm tall (9 inches).
– I have embroidered the eyes in the photos but instructions for safety eyes are also included. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.

Ears (MAIN COLOUR, make 2):

Fold in half and sc across final round. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Assembly:
1) Muzzle – sew between rounds 15-22 of the head.
2) Nose – embroider using MAIN COLOUR on muzzle between rounds 2-5.
3) Ears – sew to sides of head between rounds 4-14.
4) Eyes (optional) – embroider over rounds 14-17 using BLACK.
5) Head – sew to the body, go around twice to secure.
6) Arms – sew to the sides of the body between rounds 29-31.
7) Tail – sew to back of torso between rounds 19-24.
