Accent A – 75 yards (shown in red below)
Small amount of white, choice of color for Accent B (shown in green below), skin tone, and hair
3.5 mm crochet hook
12mm safety eyes
Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes/eyebrows/smile
Pink/red yarn for cheeks (optional)

NOTES –
– Slowly stuff as you go, you want it to be firm but not stretched. You will be working in the round; I like to use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round.
– The legs, body and head will be made as one piece.
– Finished Mini Elf measures approximately 10 inches tall.
Legs – Make 2
Before starting cut a 5-inch strand of your skin tone, and set aside, we will use this to create the nose further in the pattern.
Starting with skin tone
Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC
Round 2: SC INC in each st (12)
Round 3: SC in the first st, SC INC in the next, rep around (18)
Rounds 4-5: SC around (18)
Change to Accent A
Rounds 6-12: SC around (18)
Fasten off on the first leg. When you complete the 2nd leg continue to round 13 to join the legs.
Round 13: SC in the next 7 sts (this will align our color changes to be at the back when our join is complete). Chain 3 and attach to the first leg with a SC. SC in the remaining stitches around the leg. When you reach the chain make a SC across each of the 3 chains. SC in the remaining stitches of the next leg and SC across each of the 3 chains again. You will have crocheted on each side of the chain. (42 SC) This completes your join and is where your next round will start.
Rounds 14-19: SC around (42)
Change to white
Round 20: SC in the BLO (42)

NOTE – Here is where we will attach the facial features. Place the safety eyes 7 stitches apart between rounds 39 and 40. Add eyebrows/eyelashes to your liking before securing the backs of your safety eyes.
Nose – With your strand of yarn we set aside earlier and a tapestry needle, pass through the middle 3 stitches between the eyes to form the nose. I like to pass through 3-4 times to make the nose more defined.
Cheeks – With pink or red yarn and your tapestry needle, pass through 2 sts just below each eye.
Smile – With your crochet/embroidery thread create a smile or smirk below the nose.
Round 44: SC in the first 7 sts, INV DEC in the next, rep around (48)

Hair (Boy Version) –
With hair color, create a slip knot and attach with a SC to the back loop of any stitch within your last round of your hat. You will be working in the BLO for this round.
Round 1: *Chain 4, SC into the next st*, *rep around
Fasten off leaving a long strand for sewing onto the head.
Hair (Girl Version) –
With hair color, create a slip knot and attach with a SC to the back loop of any stitch within your last round of your hat. You will be working in the BLO for this round.
Round 1: Chain 25, *2HDC into the 2nd chain from your hook, HDC into the next*. *Continue this pattern down your chain until you reach your hat. Skip the next ST in your hat, SC into the adjacent ST. This completes one curl, continue these steps until you have a total of 18 curls.
Next, SC into the remaining sts until you reach your first curl (this will create the bangs). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Pom –
With white
Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC
Round 2: SC INC in each st (12)
Rounds 3-5: SC around (12)
Round 6: INV DEC around (6)
After stuffing, fasten off and sew remaining hole closed, weave in your end.
Assembly –
– Sew the arms onto the body centered with the head at round 27.
– Next, we will make the bib and straps to the overalls.
1. With Accent A make a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to one of the front loops from round 20. We will be using the center 10 stitches for our bib portion. I used the nose to help me find the center and counted 5 stitches on each side to find my 10 middle stitches.
2. Ch 1 and make 10 HDC across (10)
Ch 1 and turn, we will now work across in rows. (Turning your mini elf upside down or right side up with each row will help in easily reaching your stitches, find what is comfortable for you.)
3. HDC across, ch 1 and turn (10) Complete 2 more rows for a total of 4 rows. At the end of your last row chain 20 for your first strap.
4. Reach across the back (around the neck) to the opposite side (the straps will make an ‘x’ when complete) and slip stitch into a front loop from round 20. Fasten off and weave in your end.
5. Create a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to the other (front) side of your bib. Chain 20 and attach with a slip stitch to the opposite side on the back as before. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
-Next, sew your pom onto the tip of your hat.
-Find the desired placement of your hat and sew into place with a running stitch along the hairline.
– Lastly, with a scrap piece of Accent A fold your hat tip over and sew into the crease to keep desired shape.
