Amigurumi Sugarplums Deer Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies:

  • Sport or DK weight yarn in 5 colors. I used Alize Cotton Gold for Color A (beige) and Scheepjes Catona for Color B (blue, 173), Color C (black, 110), Color D (dark blue, 401), Color E (brown, 162) and Color F (white, 106)
  • Crochet hook 2.5 mm
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • 2 black safety eyes, 6 mm
  • Tapestry needle

Stitches needed:
Slip stitch (sl st), chain (ch), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc)

  • WORK IN CONTINUOUS ROUNDS. DO NOT JOIN OR TURN UNLESS OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED.
  • IT WOULD BE WISE TO USE A STITCH MARKER AND PLACE IT IN THE FIRST STITCH OF EACH ROUND TO MARK THE BEGINNING OF IT.
  • LEAVE EACH PIECE A LONG TAIL FOR SEWING.

HEAD
Crocheted from top to bottom.
1: Color A. Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
2: Work 2 sc in each st around [12]
3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [18]
4: (Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [24]
5: (Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [30]
6: (Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [36]
7: (Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [42]
8-17: Sc in each st around
Fasten safety eyes between rounds 13 and 14. Insert the first eye, then count 7 holes to the left and insert the second eye in the next hole. Close the washers.

MUZZLE AND EARS
Work muzzle in color B and 2 ears in color A.

Fasten off.
Sew the muzzle on the face. Add a small amount of stuffing before closing the seam.
Fold the ears to give them ear shape. Fasten with a couple of stitches from the corner. Attach at 6 rounds from the top of the head.

NOSE
1: Color C. Work 6 sc in a magic ring, sl st in first sc.
Fasten off. Sew the nose onto the muzzle.

ANTLER (make 2)
1: Color D. 8 ch. Dc in 4th st from hook, hdc in next st, sc in next st, 6 ch, dc in 4th st from hook, hdc in next st, sc in next st, sc in the remaining 2 sts on the starting chain.
Fasten off. Sew the antlers between the ears.

BODY
1: Color A. Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
2: Work 2 sc in each st around [12]

5-7: Color A. Sc in each st around
Stuff the arm.
8: (Sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog) rep 2 times [10]
9-12: Sc in each st around
Fasten off. Flatten the top and sew closed. Sew the arms between the head and the body.
Embroider some tiny stitches with color F on the forehead and both sides of the body.
